Pulse oximeters are medical devices used to measure the oxygen level (or oxygen saturation SpO2 %) and heart rate in the blood. Pulse oximeters are considered to be noninvasive, painless, general indicator of oxygen delivery to the tissues. Oximeters can acquire SpO2 and heart rate readings from the finger, earlobe, forehead, toe, wrist or nose.

  • DIFFERENT TYPES OF PULSE OXIMETERS

Pulse oximeters come in different sizes and types depending on how they are used, reading location, the age and or size of the person.

Finger Pulse oximeters - are typically used for spot checks and only take SpO2 readings from the fingertips. Wireless finger oximeters can stream data to an iPhone IOS/Android app that records oxygen saturation and hear rate readings for review at a later time.

HandHeld Pulse oximeters - are used for both spot checks and continuous monitoring. Hand held oximeters have the ability to use different sensors that can be used on the finger, earlobe, forehead, toe, and nose. Handhelds have optional memory for recording oximetry data and also optional alarms (audible/visual) if the oxygen saturation and/or heart rate readings are below (for SpO2/Heart Rate) or above (Heart Rate only) adjustable pre-set values. All handheld oximeters use batteries to power the unit. Optional charging stands with rechargeable batteries are available for select models.

Wrist Pulse Oximeters - are oximeters that attach to the wrist like a wristwatch and have a sensor that attaches to the finger. Wrist oximeters are typically used for recording oximetry data during sleep but can be used as a standard spot check oximeter or recording oximetry data continuously throughout the day.

Tabletop Pulse Oximeter - are used for both spot checks and continuous monitoring. Tabletop oximeters have the ability to use different sensors that can be used on the finger, earlobe, forehead, toe, and nose. All tabletop oximeters have memory for recording oximetry data and alarms (audible/visual) if the oxygen saturation and/or heart rate readings are below (for SpO2/Heart Rate) or above (Heart Rate only) adjustable pre-set values. All table top oximeters are plug in powered and have internal batteries that power the unit while not plugged in. Table tops come with either wired or wireless sensor options (Aulisa only).

Wireless Pulse Oximeters - stream oximetry data (SpO2 & Heart Rate) to either a iPhone IOS/Android device to record data or to a display unit that alarms (Aulisa only). Wireless oximeters come in finger, wrist and table top configurations.

MRI Safe Pulse Oximeter - is designed to work in MR environments.
